It’s the hot glue of cooking: it brings everything together and allows you to get creative with endless combinations. So here’s your chance to experiment with different fillings and go crazy with the toppings: fruit, spreads, nuts, sprinkles, sauces, spices, herbs… anything goes! It’s also a fun activity to get kids involved in.

Ingredients

For six pop tarts:
1 sheet of puff pastry
Various fillings
Toppings

For the glaze:
30g icing sugar
1 dash of water
1 tsp cocoa powder (for the chocolate variant)

Instructions

Cut the puff pastry in two long vertical strips, then cut 5/6 even rectangles from each strip.

Lay half of the rectangles on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and add your fillings. Place a second rectangle on top and seal the edges with your fingers or using a fork.

Bake at 180°C for 15/20. You’ll know they are done when they puff up nicely and get golden brown on top.

Leave them to cool then add the toppings.
